Have You Gotten A Mother’s Day Gift For The Moms In Your Life Yet?

Consider this your friendly reminder, dear reader – Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I know the mamas in your life deserve to be treated like the queens they are and showered with gifts and appreciation, on Mother’s Day, but really all days.

For ALL the mamas among us, pelvic health is an absolutely pivotal (and often overlooked!) aspect of wellbeing. Too often, mamas give birth, maybe rest for a few weeks, and then jump right back into things after birthing an entire other human into the world. No! Please! These women deserve the absolute best care, and the time and space we as humans require to heal internally.

Your Pelvis Is Your Foundation

The muscles and bony structures of the pelvic “floor” (perhaps more appropriately called the pelvic bowl or sling) are the foundation of our entire body, and when they’re not properly aligned and harmoniously engaged, it can wreak havoc upon the entire structural system. Do not underestimate the importance of this place!

During pregnancy, the muscles of our pelvic floor, including all the muscles of the abdomen too, experience an infusion of a hormone known as relaxin. This is exactly what it sounds like – a relaxer! The idea is to soften the muscles and allow for an easeful delivery of baby, which is great, but then what? Very often after birth, whether a vaginal or belly birth, mamas find their pelvic floor muscles are just not working the same way as they did before, and no amount of kegels will fix it. In fact, kegels will often make things worse.

So What’s The Solution?

Any guesses?

That’s right – PT! Study after study (and lived experiences of countless women) have shown the immense benefits of pelvic floor PT, and as luck would have it, you are connected with a team of absolutely top notch pelvic physical therapists right here at Balance Within PT!

While just seeing a PT once a week while you’re recovering from giving birth to a child (whether by vaginal or belly birth) won’t be a one-size-fits-all, one and done solution for you, it is an invaluable part of the recovery journey, and our PTs will provide you with powerful resources, tools, and at home care practices to empower you in reclaiming your body’s power and vitality after birth – whether it was last week, or thirty years ago!

As you heard Dr. Megan explain in the video above, there is so much that goes into postpartum recovery, and getting the care and support you need now to address some of the underlying challenges like a misaligned pelvis or poorly engaged abdominal muscles sets you up to avoid a lot of worse problems later in life after your body has been dealing with these difficulties for decades. You deserve to feel great, and your family deserves a healthy, vital, strong mom, ready to take on the very demanding role of mothering in today’s society. You owe it to yourself to get checked out by one of our professionals, even just to make sure everything is working as it ought. You have nothing to lose, and so much to gain.
