With the holidays and the darkest days of the year upon us, many of you may find yourselves going to bed a bit earlier, sleeping in a bit more, and basically behaving a bit like a bear in hibernation. It’s natural!
What’s NOT natural, however, is waking up from those long winter nights feeling sore, tired, and unrested even after a long night’s sleep.
So why does this happen?
A whole host of reasons can be causing that feeling of soreness and fatigue in the morning, but one of the most common culprits is your sleep position. How are you going to sleep? Do you wake up in that same position, or do you move around a lot while you’re sleeping? Are you a side, back, or stomach sleeper? All of these things make a big difference in the quality of your sleep, and if you’re waking up sore, the first place to look is how you’re sleeping and what you can do to improve your posture even while deep in the dreamtime.
