5 Exercises for Shoulder Pain:

  1. Pendulum Stretch:
    • Stand and lean over slightly, supporting your non-painful arm on a table or chair for balance.
    • Let your painful arm hang freely.
    • Gently swing your painful arm in a circular motion for 3-5 minutes.
    • Gradually increase the size of the circle as you become more comfortable.
  2. Wall Angels:
    • Stand with your back against a wall, feet hip-width apart.
    • Place your arms against the wall at a 90-degree angle, resembling a “W” shape.
    • Slowly slide your arms up and down the wall, maintaining contact with the wall at all times.
    • Aim for 10-15 repetitions.
  3. Shoulder Blade Squeeze:
    • Sit or stand with your back straight.
    • Squeeze your shoulder blades together, as if trying to hold a pencil between them.
    • Hold this position for 5-10 seconds.
    • Repeat 10-15 times.
  4. Arm Circles:
    • Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
    • Extend your arms straight out to the sides.
    • Start making small circles with your arms, gradually increasing the size of the circles.
    • Reverse the direction after 10-15 seconds.
    • Do 2-3 sets.
  5. Towel Stretch:
    • Hold a towel with one hand behind your back.
    • Use your other hand to grab the lower end of the towel.
    • Gently pull the top hand upward and the bottom hand downward to stretch your shoulder.
    • Hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat 2-3 times.
