You may remember seeing cupping marks or circles on some of the Olympic athletes. This put cupping on the map in the US. Eastern medicine has used cupping for hundreds of years for treatment of back pain, neck pain, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.
Myofascial Cupping therapy is a great way to release fascia. It gives the therapist a “handle” into the fascia (aka connective tissues of the body), allowing them to not press but pull the fascial restriction, thereby giving another approach to coaxing the fascia to let go! The process can also help with blood flow into the tissue as well as to help remove toxins which may be trapped there--causing pain.
I have been using Myofascial Cupping with success for several years. I especially like it for use on restricted backs, shoulders, pecs, IT Bands, hamstrings, and calves.
